It is possible for anyone to become a travel writer if they possess the skills and dedication needed. Make sure you have a wealth of travel experience before you start writing. I am a travel writer with http://www.globetrotterguru.com and I can help you to get started. Here are my main tips and the process that you need to follow... Master the English Language and Writing Skills First of all, you will need an excellent command of the English language with a good vocabulary. Reading the other travel blogs and travel books will help you are to expand your knowledge and help that you to understand what your audience might be looking for. Set up your own Blog Secondly, you need your own blog. When are you set up your travel blog, think about the audience you are writing for. This could be a solo travellers, couples or families. You could focus on a particular area of interest such as culture of wildlife. It is important to get your niche right from the start. There are so many travel blogs out there that yours will need to stand out from the crowd. I focus on solo female travel for women in their 30's who want to quit their jobs to travel. Regarding the practicalities of setting up your blog, it has to be a self hosted blog on http://WordPress.org. If you write on a free platform such as blogspot or http://WordPress.com, you won't get taken seriously as a travel writer. It is easy to register your website domain and host it - just register with a hosting the platform such as http://www.kqzyfj.com/click-7815909-10382541-1438895196000 or http://www.dpbolvw.net/click-7815909-10376690-1416348360000. Then get http://WordPress.org installed. If you are unsure how to do this, GoDaddy customer services will talk you through the process. Write Key Articles on your own Blog Up your own blog Will then become a portfolio that you share we travel companies and other bloggers in order to secure guest blogging and paid travel writing. Your articles need to be SEO friendly, so do learn the basics of SEO. Titles such as Visiting X on a budget or 50 Things Not to Miss in X work well. http://globetrotterguru.com/blogging/ You will then need social media skills to grow your following on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, in order to get your content out there on the web. Freelancing Once your blog is up and running, you can then apply for freelance writing, using your blog as your portfolio. It is a good idea to register on some http://globetrotterguru.com/freelancing/sites such as https://www.peopleperhour.com/site/register?rfrd=270623.1 and http://upwork.com. If you are serious about this, I highly recommend that you register with https://travelblogsuccess.com/?ref=1370. When I started this course, my travel writing fan base improved dramatically and I started to get sponsored accommodation and trips. First, READ. This will give you the idea of how to make your memories be an effective advice journal as well as a basic overall pleasant reading material. Second, SETUP. Start a blog. There are many free blogs and tutorials that'd teach you how to make your blog look like you want it to, pictures, links, color schemes etc. Third, WRITE. This is the hardest bit. This is where you CAN get lucky, but the chances are low. So you'll need to put in LONG hours. Write. Write some more. Edit, modify and improve content till you are satisfied. Take the criticism you find in comments positively and see what you can do about it. MOST of all, Don't forget why you're doing it! The world is your canvas. Paint it however you like. Write from your heart, write from your broadened perspective and don't be afraid to try new approaches! Good Luck.

Obvious answer is 'by travelling' . Like 'Ulysses' who yearns to explore, seek new worlds... You will become a writer without even realising it. " ⦠Come, my friends, 'Tis not too late to seek a newer world. Push off, and sitting well in order smite The sounding furrows; for my purpose holds To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths Of all the western stars, until I die..." :Ulysses (poem)

Start Blogging and watch many travel TV shows and get the names of the content writers and get their experiences somehow. Or, you can do it your own way by writing down your own experiences and making them presentable by adding pictures and create a story telling experience in your articles or posts. Get a collection of various places you like or already have traveled, read several things on internet regarding the places and give your own touch to it... You Become What YOU Want to Become :)

You become a traveller by planning and going on some travel. Usually this involves saving some money from a job (unless you're rich) at first. Once you've got some travel experience, go home (or somewhere else of your choice) and write about it. Don't just write a list of what you did, find the stories and themes in it, draw out human interest and excitement, something that's distinctly lacking in a lot of professional travel writing is a good story! You can stand out from the millions of other travel writers by telling a good story. Once you've written it, I'm assuming you're wanting to either sell those stories or publish them somehow. There's plenty of travel magazines (go to any news stand to see which ones) which publish travel writing, send them your story with a polite friendly covering letter and wait 4-6 weeks before sending it elsewhere. Remember: rejection is the cornerstone of success. If you're not into those traditional publications, but prefer to write online, why not start a blog via Wordpress to tell the world about your experiences? But it does all start with the travelling otherwise you've got nothing to write about. On the other hand, if you live somewhere that is unique, different or interesting (to the average reader), you could write a piece about that, then use the money to help fund your next travel. Travel writing is extremely competitive and underpaid, however, at least when you're gaining a foothold, so unless you've got a totally new angle you're probably going to be competing with a lot of other talent to sell your stories, which is why blogging can be a much better option to get your name out there. That's what I do - I have a travel blog where I write about things I've done and places I've been (among other things) and with the right Search Engine Optimisation you can grow a reasonably popular blog over a couple of years. Here's an example of the sort of articles I write, to give you an idea of how travel blogging is different to magazine travel articles: http://delightandinspire.com/2016/02/04/photographs-of-salzburg-austria/ For blogging, however, photography is more important than storytelling so you will need to invest in a good camera and learn to take excellent pictures in as few snaps as possible to get a really successful blog - that's where mine fell down when I first started out. Nobody wants to read travel articles with no pictures or bad pictures. Once you have a popular enough blog, you will get emails from people with opportunities you can either take or leave these, but once you get lots of visitors, you can include a link to your site when you submit articles elsewhere (particularly if you want to guest post for example for the Huffington Post) which will give editors confidence that you can write a decent article.Good luck!
