What are good science courses?

What are some of the good 1 year masters courses that an IT professional with  Computer Science background undertake?

  • I am trying to look for courses that are mostly meant for people who already have 3-4 years of experience in the IT field. I have also heard a lot about inter-disciplinary courses (like HCI, etc) and wanted some information on the ones which are suitable for people with computer science backgound.

  • Answer:

If I'm looking at résumés, my interest is usually more piqued by someone who's gone out and got themselves a year's solid commercial experience, even if it's an intern- or apprentice-ship, than by someone who's gone straight into a master's immediately after a first degree. Or to put it differently, someone who did the master's straightaway may very well come out of it with more theoretical knowledge, but in my book would still be looking for a first job. You learn more real, practical, applicable stuff in your first year's work than pretty much any time before that.  Obviously this is just my 2p, but I'd get a few years' real work under your belt first, and then go back and study more if you want to - you'll know more what sort of thing you want to study after a while in the real world, anyway. Edit: I might have misread your question, it's not clear whether you're talking about going straight on or whether you've already been working for a while. Sorry if I got the wrong end of the stick. Hopefully the thought might help someone out anyway. :-)
