Both Bulldog and Rob are right. Your SAT score will indicate which UC you can get into. You need close to 2000 to get into SB and way over 2000 to get in Cal. Also you best bet is to go to a community college first unless your parents and aid will pay for your all of your college.

You won't know your chances of getting into the UC system until you take the SAT and get your results.

Congratulations forbeing 1st in family to go to college. considering all u said , good chance as anyone. now for the real world info on 'higher education'. at that stuff really doesn't make a difference if u can not pay for the education with out Decades and 250,000s$ of DEBT. your 'minority' status isn't worth what it was decades past. heck, whites are minorities in many areas of CA. WHAT u need to do is learn how to pay for college. learn what degrees are absolutley worthless, just worthless, worth something and worth alot. colleges lie about which are which. go spend some time - couple of months, exploring BLS.gov/OOH for actual job/careers u would want to spend 45 -55 hr/wkly doing. spend some time in library reading either series "for dummies" or "idiots guide to" on any career/job u find of interest. visit pay scale sites in area to see if there are actual jobs open. some times u got to move. in USA, informed kids are attending local community colleges for their 1st 2- 3 yrs to get their A.S. (a.a.s are near worhless) they then transfer to a college they can afford. doing so SAVEs them easily 10,000 - 20,000$ in worthless Fees and costs. many community colleges have programs that actually are in demand and pay easily 35,000 -65,000$yrly. a living wage for family of four. some programs lead to pay in 70,000 - 110,000 in 5 yrs or less. do learn how to get a job for 30 hr a week and pay for school as u go. library has these books on grants scholarships u can spend weeks in summer applying for to fund school. do understand each 10,000 u borrow means in CA u have to earn 45,000$ or more to pay off the 10 plus all the interests/fees. spend some time in librarys learning b4 u spend decades making others wealthy, not u. hint employers do Not pay or hire u based on where u went to school. good knowledge is good luck. u need more of both.
