Is Computer science a good degree?

I have a computer science degree and I am good at programming but It's nowhere near what I imagined :( help?

  • I always wanted to be good at computers and making real softwares that people who find useful and computers have been my hobby since forever. I completed a bachelore degree in computer science and I am quite comfortable at programming ( best from my class ). I was the one with the 'ah-ha' moments when everyone was scratching their heads in front of a problem and I still learn quite easily everything ( not without practice ) in my field. Today, i still feel my level is not sufficient when i see professionals at their jobs, or people who are still in college making incredible programs, sharing their thoughts on the internet on complicated computer subjects, creating mind blowing projects and although i was the among the best during college ( last year ) i feel like i missed many things or i simply attended at a bad college :( I can do regular stuff from my textbook but that is pretty much all of it. It is totally not like what I expected when I started college ( my expectations come also from viewing movies in which college kids created stuff that made them million, ie: the social network ).   Note: I dont know if my clear is enough :/ sorry about that. I just want to know if my case is uncommon and if should start a master course or take some additional courses.

The question to ask yourself is, are you generally able to implement the ideas you have regarding applications? If yes, then you are a decent enough programmer. Don't beat yourself up. As for the millionaire part. In daily life you will come across developers who are simply amazing at what they do. And there would be hardly anything that they would find difficult to implement in an application, they are not all multi-millionaires. Thats because, creating something like Facebook requires a kick-ass idea, great implementation, good marketing, investor backing and fair amount of luck. Hope this helps. All the best.

Don't care about whatever you came across internet. Always some peoples are best at their fields.Just think about whether you are able to take care of your survival and whenever you are free learn from those who are making you frustrated. Don't learn everything .once Buddha was asked a question by a layman  ,it seems peoples are saying that you have attained a greatest thing .Could you please clarify me what you have attained and for that Buddha instantly replied that  he has not attained anything but he just dropped all the unnecessary things which are not needed. The same thing was  happened in Bernardshaw life. Once he was asked a question by a person how are you able to write about that story in 120 pages .For that Bernardshaw replied I am still not good at it otherwise I would have return it in 40 pages. The moral of these two  story is the core mantra for learning Computer science(all subjects ) and code optimization. For  example  I want  to say is if you came across email validation then know about regular expressions but don't dive more into it and don't waste your time. The question for your answer in straight one line "Nobody won't show their weakness .If you feel intimated by other codes who are best compared to you then steal from them .I am not talking about code stealing ,rather steal ideas and the way of their design and  we became good. Instead of learning frustration from seeing others ability rather add it as an advantage to your side ".
