Is Codecademy sufficient education to get a job in web development?

This question is mainly targeted at hiring managers, recruiters, HR people, product managers and others that are involved in hiring in this industry. Many people exalt Codecademy for it's potential to enable a career-switch. I've always been of the opinion that it's insufficient, but, evidently, many are of the belief that the content offered on the site is sufficient to get a job. Do you think this is true and would you hire someone with no professional experience beyond a handful of Codecademy courses and perhaps a meager portfolio?

It is likely not sufficient on its own. A new web developer will need to get more hands on experience than Codecademy is intended to provide you. You need to experience how to work in a team, what are various software methodologies out there, what technologies should you learn in this endless sea of languages and frameworks. Having a teacher or a mentor will help also. There are numerous web development bootcamps out there, including ours (http://www.devatory.com) that are intended to take self starters who are dedicated to becoming a web developer to that next level which is the employable level.
