Is Kerala a safe place to visit?

Is Kerala a good place to visit during June?

  • We plan to go for a Kerala package covering Cochin - Athirapally - Munnar - Thekkady and Kumarakom in June. Given the heavy monsoons in June, I am a little skeptical about going at this time. Is it a good time to go?

  • Answer:

June is ideal time to visit Kerala, as Mansoons will start and it will  be full greenery. Allepy/Trivandum/Munnar etc some some good places to  visit.

Yes, it's good to visit Kerala during monsoon, you can enjoy the charm of wet Kerala and trees swaying to monsoons between June and August.

I would strongly suggest you to pick a better time. The kind of places you want to visit, you will miss most of the fun by going there in June. Boating and visiting beaches is not best done during monsoon. Roads in Kerala are really pathetic during the time as well. Also some activities (pretty much anything involving rocks and water) are going to get a lot more dangerous.

If you want to get bitten by blood sucking leeches of Munnar, or slip and tumble downhills in Athirapally or get stranded in rain and traffic in Cochin, you may very well proceed.

Well it is right in the eye of the south-west monsoon. The humidity will be super high. So yeah, it's not the ideal time to go but it's Kerala, it's beautiful anyways! The fresh smell of wet earth and the brightest green you'll ever see only add to it. And getting wet in the rain is almost always fun so.....

In June monsoon season starts in Kerala triggering heavy rains. Visiting Kerala in monsoons has its own pros and cons. Here I am trying to summarize it Visiting Kerala in Monsoons Monsoons (June-September)   (The Southwest Monsoon - "Edavappathi" ) Kerala will be in its greenest  best and   develops  its on romantic aroma .Nature gains a unique charm  in  monsoons  helping to relax and unwind yourself. Besides most of  the  tourist  places will be less crowded which will provide better   experiences to the  travelers. Pros -Waterfalls  will be in its  best during  monsoons and numerous  small waterfalls  will be created in and around  after a heavy rain. If  you are  planning for a laid back relaxed holiday  with less sightseeing  and  more experiences then Monsoons are the best  time to visit Kerala.   These days Honeymooners are preferring Kerala  more and more during the   monsoons but again it totally depends on what  you expect from your   vacation. -According   to Ayurveda, Monsoon is the best season for rejuvenation therapies.    During the Monsoon season, the atmosphere remains dust-free and cool,    opening the pores of the body to the maximum, making it most  receptive   to herbal oils and therapy. If you are planning for any  Ayurvedic   rejuvenation/treatments then monsoons will be an ideal time  to visit   Kerala. -Discounts and off season rates Kerala Tourism offers at this time. Most  of the top  Hotels/Resorts/Homestays/TreeHouses/FarmStays/PlantationStays will be  offering  good discounts from their regular Tariff (off-season rates)    and you will be able to get  better class accommodation options  in    monsoons comparing to the peak season for the same cost. This makes   monsoon tourism much better value for the money. Due to all these   factors Monsoon tourism is gaining momentum in Kerala. Sometimes   monsoons might be delayed and so it will be safer to plan for late   June  or July if you want to enjoy the Monsoon rains in Kerala Cons - Frequent rains and rough sea might spoil your Beach Holiday     plans.Moonsoon are not a great time to visit Kerala Beaches    (though you can visit beaches between the rains) - In case of heavy rains some of the waterfalls might be closed(or may have    restricted entry ) due to dangerous water currents So my suggestion is to go ahead with your plan if you are expecting a relaxed vacation with less sightseeing. Hope I answered your question. If you want to know more on the "Best time to Visit Kerala" then you can read this

KTDC vigorously promotes 'monsoon tourism' precisely because it is one of the best times to see the lush green mossy overgrown God's own country. I would highly recommend if you fancy to get a bit wet muddy and care free , especially us Indians see rain as a blessing and an occasion to have romance then some amazing foods. ( if you fancy some deep fried 4'O clock snacks and sweet cardamom tea there is no other time and place like monsoon in Kerala) The high ranges of Kerala is in its splendid self during monsoon and the dreaded bullet ride or a 4x4 drive keep your adrenaline up even when your socks are drenched. ( Festivals like Wayanad Spalsh is not for every one but definitely different than any of the normal sight seeing tours ) http://wayanadsplash.com/carnivalrecap.html#con3 It is also one of the best times to get  all them ayurveda treatments Take a boat journey through the interiors during a drizzle or have a sulimani watching the jungle gets  wet with rain and of course Santhosh Shivan captures the beauty  of Monsoon in Kerala like never before

Hello, Travelling to kerala during monsoon is not recommended if kids or aged people are accompanying these destinations, as sudden change in climate can cause cold, cough. High travelling or sightseeing will be difficult or can cover limited sightseeing, but other wise can enjoy the nearest points of respective cities. Athirapally will have enough water falls during this time and will have a best view. Many of them have booked through us in june & july due to offseason, comparatively accommodation cost will decrease. But it all depends if you love to shower and enjoy monsoon. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1CwsNpVZYYvlxk-RldmbzwQPkbPYxppeEB9ALlh_fCP4/viewform

You can travel Gavi - Thakaday- Idukki- Attrapali - Cochin . Kerela is really very beautiful place. You can enjoy rain forest like yelmbur. I think first or second week is nice time to travel there.
