What opportunities exist for a Petroleum Engineer in the North East USA (not necessarily in the same field)?
-
For full info: Been working as Petroleum Engineer in UK for 3 years. I'm a UK national with 1st Class MEng and an Oxford PhD. I'm looking to relocate to the NE USA. So bear the above in mind, but general answers would also be most helpful. It doesn't necessarily have to be Oil & Gas, just jobs or careers that may be open to me.
-
Answer:
NE USA is full of shale gas. Natural gas prices in North America are very depressed, so much so that the company I work for has suspended all natural gas drilling. That isn't to say that some companies aren't still drilling, there is work, but if you want to stay an engineer in the oil & gas industry, a better bet would be Texas.
