Why mongod shutdown quietly(no info in the log, just crash) when the disk space for the mongodb log is not enough?
-
I set mongodb's log path to a place which has not so much free space, someday, I found mongodb crash, but I can not find any info in the log . By coincidence, I found it was because there was no enough free disk space for the log. So why mongodb crashes so "quietly"? As I know, mysql will at least write some info to the syslog when occurs such similar crash.

Answer:
The question you should be asking is, why put logs on a small partition, and why don't you actively monitor processes? MongoDB now has syslog support, I suggest trying that.
