Well, if you love animals then you can always adopt some and go for a career that is in demand and pays well. Vet technicians aren't paid much and there is lack of scope or further opportunities in it. One thing you could do is start a pet shop that will be better than being a vet tech

How about dog trainer or groomer? How about working in a zoo as an assistant, where you could feed? Or be a tour guide at the zoo? How about working with horses and special needs children together? There are so many options!

You'd be surprised at how good you can become when it life/death for an animal. I was the same way, and I have been rescuing/fostering mother cats/kittens for over 15 years....I've seen it all. Why don't you try a Vet Technician instead of an actual Vet ?? Also, get involved with cat rescue groups in your area... volunteers are always needs to foster, transport, feed...etc... It's awesome and so rewarding and it will help you determine if that's what you really want to do.
