How do you set personal career goals?

Keeping it realistic will help you create a goal that is manageable and won't overwhelm you. Having it be time-based curbs the procrastination that can creep in there and keep some goals from coming to fruition. Another thing to keep in mind when creating goals is to ask yourself, "Why?" Know what your motivation is for goals -- why do they matter? Keep checking in with that periodically. Sometimes factors will change as time goes on, others will intensify. Use that internal feedback to tweak your goals as necessary so you continue to head in the right direction.
