I'm aware solar panels are made up of tiny solar cells. But do solar-powered calculators have a solar panel or solar cells(s)?

Generally they have an assembly made of / containing several tiny cells. I don't know if you would call this a panel or a module, as it's not a free-standing unit but neither is is a single cell. A single solar cell only gives around 0.6V, so several are used in series (typically 4 - 5) to match the working voltage of the calculator.
