CNAs are responsible for the daily care of patients. Changing bedding, changing diapers, bathing, brushing hair, feeding patients, cleaning patients, etc. They help patients go to the bathroom and they clean up if a patient has any kind of bodily fluid accident. Hours vary widely. Full time CNAs will work the shifts the employer needs. Some do three 12-13 hour shifts, some do four 10 hour shifts, some do five 8 hour shifts. Beginners will often work overnights, weekends, and holidays. It's hard work, but it's not advanced difficult work that requires extensive education or skills. That's why the pay is usually fairly low. National average pay is about $12/hr. Good Luck Edit: A CNA course shouldn't be a year long at a CC. That's MA or LVN. CNAs are 0-6 weeks of training for most states and facilities.
