Kenya: How will the discovery of the Lotikipi aquifer affect violence in the region?

  Well, it might go either way, increase the violence or eliminate it. The good thing is that at least now there is water for the residents of Turkana and there is more hope for development in the area since there is some oil as well. But now that there is water, other communities might just come and bully the community there so as to get access to the water, and this may increase the violence. However, if the government steps in and builds infrastructure to distribute the water, this might not happen. I hope for the best though.
