What is the best way to count money (banknotes) with your hands?

Give them to me. I will take them home, count them for you and give you back the next day.

You hold the money in one hand, and transfer it to another one note at a time. You press the note a little harder and rub them between your thumb and a finger to make sure that you are transferring only singles. In the process you speak out the count. If you are counting for another person then count in the common language, but if you are counting for yourself then count it in the language you are most comfortable with, e.g., in your mother tongue.   I would not recommend touching your tongue to moist your finger, since notes usually have germs which you do not want to be transferred to you.
