Who is going to play Alec in Eclipse/Breaking Dawn?

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016 movie): Who should play Luthor in the Man of Steel sequels?

  • In the climax of Man of Steel there was a truck(tanker) with the words LEXCORP written on it which got destroyed in the fight later. So its safe to assume that we are going to see Lex Luthor in the sequel to come. Who do you think would potray the character the best?

  • Answer:

To me, there's only one person who should take on the role of Lex Luthor.  For this casting, you need to go big.  You need someone that can portray the suave and charismatic businessman and you need someone that can display rage and utter villainy.  And that someone is... Daniel Day-Lewis He is such a great villain.  He played it so well in Gangs of New York and There Will Be Blood.  He would be a marvel as Lex Luthor.  Can you imagine having one of this generation's greatest actors going up against Superman?  This type of casting is exactly what is needed for this role.

I'll flip the script. Since comic book films are changing everything why not change the villains? I'd vote for Denzel Washington to play Lex Luthor. He certainly would be one of the strongest actors to ever appear in a comic book-spawned film. He has played a villain and he really could inhabit the role. This would be a Lex Luthor to rival Gene Hackman's take on the role.

Jon Mixon

Without a doubt- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Kingsley Academy Award Winner and insanely talented performer.  As a bad guy he is very scary. As a bonus- I think in the Quora version of the movie we have play Lex.

Looking through actor resumes, the best fit for the role of Lex Luthor would be narrowed down to two, Mark Strong (as already mentioned) and Paul Bettany. Although I would choose the latter based on his previous works. He may already be JARVIS from The Avengers, but he's also done films like Priest, Legion, and The Da Vinci Code, and while these are mediocre at best, he has sustained that villainy, Moriarty-esque appeal that would only work if he was the primary antagonist in the Man of Steel sequel. The perfect good guy/bad guy.

I liked this guy: Michael Rosenbaum Since Superman is youngish, I think you want a youngish Lex too. For a bigger name, I think: Ryan Gosling would be interesting.

I'm definitely going for Tom Hardy. He has the class, he is a total bad-ass and a wonderful actor!

Geoffrey Reemer

I know Mark Strong has already played Sinestro in the atrocious Green Lantern movie thereby conflicting in the case WB intents to create a shared universe. But he has the right looks and personality for it. PS : I thought Man of Steel was a less than decent flick and would think twice before making a sequel for it.

Well, Warner Bros got their next publicity still. They just cast Jesse Eisenberg in the role of Lex Luthor. Yes, THAT Jesse Eisenberg. Personally, I think they've got a monkey picking names out of a glass bowl to cast this movie.

Kevin Spacey  is the  best Lex Luthor that I have seen in movies and they should cast him again as Lex Luthor... Lex Luthor is more of an intelligent and smart man than a badass... What makes Lex such a fantastic character becomes evident when you look at the world from his point of view. He's not necessarily trying to rule the world; in his eyes he's saving it. Think about that for a second - Luthor is trying to save the world from the unwieldy, crushing rule of an alien from Krypton. This man craves to be the world's savior, yearns to have "his" people worship the ground he walks on and refuses to see that birthright seized by another. It should be Kevin Spacey because in many of his movies where he plays as an antagonist , he does it cool and act as a friggin genius with a plan and always stays cool without losing any temper... I hope it would be Kevin Spacey again....

Because I truly, honestly think he could pull off the pure-evil-with-a-smirk thing, fabulously, my vote is for George Clooney. Maybe it would make up for his abysmal tenure as Batman. Or, if you just want to go pure, calculating evil without the aspect of charm, then absolutely, Javier Bardem.
