What's the biggest problem in world's manga(cartoon) market and how could we disrupt the market?
-
Would we be able to see an equivalent of Spotify in manga(cartoon) market, which has, for a decade, been inflicted by piracy.

Answer:
The biggest problem is distribution and it's already been disrupted. Sadly, it was disrupted in a way that did not benefit any of the people who did the work. The question now is not, "how do we disrupt" the market, but "how do we use the current disruption to create a sustainable global market?"I've written about this at length on my blog Okazu, about how promotion is fragmented and require resources small companies do not have, how certain niches are perfect for digital - and how digital has already changed the market and we are now piecing the market back together so it makes sense to continue to provide content to people who get blank looks on their faces when you say, "It only costs $5 USD!" because they can't tell the difference between âInformation wants to be Freeâ and âI want Free Information.â

I can only speak from personal experience here, but a spotify-like service for manga doesn't sound like a silver bullet to me... keep in mind that unlike with music or video, there is a notable gap between a digital scanlation and a book. In the case of music or video, people can pirate exactly the item that they'd get when they buy the CD or DVD. Sometimes they get even more via the fansub than via the DVD (different karaoke, more subtitles, preferred otakuesque translations, etc.). But digital manga versus paper manga? In that case, the digital/pirateable version is inferior. Which leads to the behavior that people often download, but later still buy the books for series that they liked. Especially since the prices of the paperbacks are usually a lot more consumer-friendly than with other media.

Another big issue, I think, is distribution in a way that directly benefits the folks making it. When someone develops and perfects ways for people to distribute and market their wares, then I courses a big shakeup in the way stories teach the masses. Much of the infrastructure is already in place, now it's a matter of someone asking the right question to spark the right answer
