Is it possible to obtain double bachelor degree?

What is the quickest and/or cheapest way to obtain a bachelor's degree, given that you already have a bachelor's degree in another subject and can pass all the coursework involved without additional preparation?

  • It's not uncommon to hear of someone who, despite having qualifications equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a given field, doesn't have the exact name on the degree that they need for some reason or other.  Maybe you have a J.D. but need a physics degree in order to take the patent bar.  Maybe you have an applied physics degree but need an engineering degree to take the engineering exams.  Maybe you have a finance background but need an accounting degree to get a CPA license.  I've always vaguely assumed that the thing to do is fill in whatever requirements are necessary at a community college, but what are the details?  Many community colleges probably aren't set up to offer, say, a B.S. in a laboratory science.  I also imagine finding a school that will happily accept loads of transfer credits, rather than insisting you pay them to retake freshman composition, is important.  Are there viable online options?

  • Answer:

Look to your alma mater for the second degree. Of any institution they will be most willing to acknowledge previous credits earned and let you take upper level courses or challenge the final exams to prove proficiency.
