Blogging in Joomla: Install multiple plugins or just one single extension?

  • Which is better? Install numerous plugins to achieve that blog environment or just get an all-in-one extension to start a blog in Joomla?

    We prefer to use Easyblog from Stackideas, although you can easily accomplish a good blogging system using k2, for example. Stackideas have a great support system as well, and keep up to date with the latest developments in semantic markup and social integration. Ruth

Installing several extensions might be a problem for future upgrades of your system as any of them might discontinue developement, so this might be a source of future headaches. Also integration through different extensions might an issue. Installing one big extension that manage all your blogging, has other problems like for instance, what happens if that extension stops being developed? At this point you might also experience problems in the future. If you the blog is just one part of your site, I would recommend using a single extension for the blog, but if you are trying to build just a blog in Joomla! I would either use several extensions and Joomla! core functionalities (like we do at http://gnumla.com) or just use  different CMS more blog specific.
