What does Quantitative Analyst do in Google's marketing department?

• Hi folks, I am currently searching for jobs and see Google is hiring quantitative analyst for marketing department. I wonder what does quantitative analyst usually do in Google's marketing department?    I saw the other posts on what statistician do in google, but I am particularly interested in the marketing department, so I want to know more about details what the challenges are working in marketing direction?  Also,  as currently a Ph.D student in statistics, I've been building profitable web service since undergraduate time, and I indeed have some interesting ideas that I want to do if I join Google.      However I am assuming when people are recruiting someone, they are expecting that guy to do a job instead of bring his own project.   I wonder if it would be a negative if I apply to the marketing quantitative analyst position, but also mentioning that I have a background in these business building experience before and is very interested in developing my own idea? Thanks a lot !
