Why am I seeing extremely low Facebook app request accept rate?

  • I have recently launched a Canvas App on Facebook, which is a social game that asks players to challenge their friends to a match. However, out of the 700+ requests sent out by players, only 1 was accepted, as displayed in Insights. What could be the reason for this? I tried to fine tune our app icon and the text message sent with the request, to make the request more enticing to the players' friends, to no avail. What else can I do to increase the request accept rate?

    A great many people simply do not want to receive Facebook app requests from games and either turn them off or simply ignore them. They can be of some use if both players are already playing the game, but as a method of attracting new players they perform extremely poorly.

What drove me away from Facebook was the app requests. The rest of it was tolerable, but constant app requests outweighed anything that could have possibly been good about the service. While I was still there, I got into the habit of declining every request, no matter what it was for or who sent it. Your problem may be a symptom of a bigger problem - the need for a better way for people to engage each other on Facebook. Because app requests are nothing but a nuisance.
