We produce 2.5 Quintillion byes every day (Source: IBM) and its only accelerating with the plethora of mobile phones, sensors, digital consumption/production through social networks, etc. Apparently, 90% of the world's entire data was produced in the last 2 years and that pace is expected to continue (if not accelerate further). With this level of data deluge, both businesses and consumers, need to make sense of it. The signal to noise ratio (finding valuable information from this data) is a non-trivial problem and people skilled in this area (Big Data, Machine Learning, Statistics, etc.) will have a very lucrative career for decades to come.
