How does Ruby interpreter work?

Are there any Ruby on Rails app tutorials to work along with?

  • I've just started learning Ruby on Rails coming from HTML, CSS and a bit of JavaScript and JQuery. Working through Rails For Zombies by Envy Labs was great, as is Rails For Zombies 2. I'm looking for similar things to work along with, like this tutorial that shows you how to build a blog (http://ontwik.com/ruby/blog-in-less-than-10-minutes-using-ruby-on-rails/). Is there anything else like these out there?

  • Answer:

Michael Hartl's tutorial for rails. It is by far the most extensive, well written, in depth, and educational tutorial. No other tutorial compares, no other tutorial exists that can take its place.

Check out http://codejinn.com/, the Ruby on Rails tutorial is very fun and is only $29 flat. It will teach you how to build a basic web application from which you can branch out into adding various features. You get direct on-your-screen mentoring to help you progress much faster than you would alone. One of the best ways to learn programming is with working directly on a project of your choice, with an experienced mentor guiding you.
