Microphones: Is there a way to hook up a wireless mic to my digital camera or does it have to be a specific kind of digital camera? I have a Sony a (alpha). I'd like to be able to record video using the wireless mic

Answer:
Do you know which Camera model in the Alpha series you have? Most DSLRs that shoot video will have a 3.5 mm jack for input. The best approach for high quality audio is to stay away from recording audio directly to the camera by using the camera's built in mic as a reference and sync it to your mic in edit. The pre-amps on the majority of DSLRs aren't that great.

A wireless mic needs a wireless receiver. If the receiver can be plugged into the camera (it doesn't have to be the same kind of jack, there are adapters - but it has to be the same level signal that the camera expects) you can use the mic.
