Where can I take my master's degree?

Which direction should i take my Masters degree in Social Media when looking at the future of this field?

  • I'm currently 6 months away from starting my Masters degree, and would like to get into the Social Media Marketing business. I find the field fascinating, leave alone important to our society. However, i do not get the input i need at my University, which i why I'm asking Quora for advice. In my eyes, social media is still a very new field, and it doesn't seem like there's a whole lot of "sures" yet. In this regard, i find it very hard to decide which direction to take my Masters degree in order to have some kind of useable knowledge in 2-4 years. I'm affraid that the field i will be studying will be outdated once i finish, which is why I'm looking for the best way to go about it, if there is any.

  • Answer:

Yes, there is a better way to go about it. Why not link your thesis to behavior study of consumers under the influence/persuasion due to social media? Increasingly, businesses and people at social networking companies are thinking how can we use the power of this vast network of people and inter-connected data to influence buying-decision behavior of our consumers or to simply put how to put social media to use to drive more sales. This makes it a compelling enough reason to study for your thesis. Also, such a study will be very relevant for the industry as a whole as this study should give more insights into knowledge of what type of factors influence consumer behavior.
