How can i create typography?

How do I create an authority site?

  • I'm a teen looking to make some extra money, so I decided to create an authority site. However, I have some questions: How much content should I create? Can I make money from Adsense even though I'm only 17? How should I choose a topic? (My interests include chess, biology, mathematics, economics, programming, graphic design, typography, and philosophy–if you'd like to make some suggestions.) Is BlueHost a good choice for hosting?

  • Answer:

How much content should I create? It's less about the volume, more about the quality of your content. A good article will be shared, while mediocre articles will be ignored. Can I make money from Adsense even though I'm only 17? Did you Google it? "google adsense, minimum age": If you are not yet 18, you may have a parent or guardian submit an application using their own https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/answer.py?answer=29366. If their application is approved, all payments will be made to the adult responsible for the site. How should I choose a topic? (My interests include chess, biology, mathematics, economics, programming, graphic design, typography, and philosophy–if you'd like to make some suggestions.) Choose a topic you're most passionate about. Next do research on which topics are under-served and decide which audience you want to reach. You could start a niche blog for chess experts but also a niche site for chess beginners. Topics like graphic design, typography and programming are already widely discussed so it would be hard (but not impossible) to become an authority site for these topics. Is BlueHost a good choice for hosting? Don't worry too much about hosting. Any host will do, especially if it's just a content website. BlueHost has been around and they're known, so I think it's a low risk decision.

Great response by Bart, I just wanted to add that if you're building an authority site, you're better off not going after something too popular (like graphic design) or you should pick a sub niche of it. Another thing I'd do before picking my niche if your objective is to make money is the monetisation opportunities. Adsense is nice because it's passive but it really doesn't pay out much. Look on networks like click bank, shareasale, commission junction etc for products relevant to the people interested in the sub niche you're about to enter. Make sure those products are quality and you're happy to put your name behind it then simply recommend it to your readers both in content contextually and on your sidebar. If you want to learn a bit more about niche picking for authority sites, I've written this post the other day: http://www.authorityhacker.com/niche-viability/
