Who is the new director of barc?

Is Anurag Kashyap the most accomplished director/producer/screenwriter of India and a game-changer who has been instrumental in bringing the new wave?

  • Anurag, pioneer of the new-age cinema, loves to create his own genre of cinema and rules out the most established rules of film-making  His cinema has been tagged as dark and edgy however he differs over it. Mr Kashyap is a big star among the new breed of Indie film-makers, has a good global reach.

  • Answer:

You may say so. However, http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0080235 comes very close, almost equal to Kashyap. He has done some very good movies and is multitalented to high degree. He is one guy who can make an entire film on his own. Look at select filmography and the kind of hats he has donned for these very good movies: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1629376/ (Writer, Director, Producer, Music Composer, Lyricist, Singer); http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0488414/ (Writer, Director, Composer, Lyricist, Singer); http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0379370/  (Writer, Director, Producer, Composer) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1345777/ (Writer, Producer, Music)

Not a direct answer, just an observation ... Haven't seen his films but I have read somewhere that he is inspired by the new age Tamil film directors - Bala, Aamir, Sasikumar and is a big fan of them. I guess his movie Gangs of Wasseypur has the shades of Madurai-Violence depicted in Tamil movies and the Factional violence depicted in Telugu movies.
