Which country is known as the Lady of snow?

Is there any explanation why certain countries or regions of a country are more prone to, and have agglomerates of transsexuals and transvestites?

  • (e.g) Bangkok (ironically) is known for a their "Lady boys". As watching a fantastic report (60min) about it. In Thailand it is so well accepted that it's embraced into the country's culture! They even lecture a class in school on "how to be a Lady body"!

You ask for any explanation at all.. that makes it fairly easy to answer. I presume that you mean a good explanation, though. My opinion is that this is a cultural matter. All throughout history and all over the world, there have been cultures that, at least in part, allowed non-traditional gender roles to be visible and even to flourish. This includes certain Native American tribes. Modern Thailand is an example of this right now. It is not at all amazing that cultures would embed something like this in their social mores. People differ, cultures change over time.. if you wait long enough, it will change again. (I think you mean 'lady boy' when talking about that class, by the way.) Cultures feel a certain pressure to slot outliers in somewhere. The Abrahamic religions have usually just tried to stamp out these people, other cultures did it differently. If you want to know how this works in a specific case, look at that culture's views on what exactly is a man and what exactly is a woman. This is a very interesting subject in and of itself. Asking a lesbian couple 'which one is the man' betrays something profound about what you think about gender. Apparently, it is inconceivable to you that a couple does not consist of a man and a woman and/or you think the primary sex attributes don't define manhood/womanhood. (The 'you' here is an example, I don't mean you personally.) Parts of Ancient Greece apparently thought you were a woman if you let yourself be penetrated sexually, whether you had a penis or not. Their laws reflected this approach. Much of contemporary Western culture still thinks this way, sadly enough. In short, look at a culture's views on manhood and womanhood for an explanation of why they do or do not allow non-standard gender roles to be visible and to what extent.
