Can I get a job at Facebook with a information systems degree?

  • I was wondering if any of you knew if you can get a job at Facebook with a degree in Information Systems, or do you guys only hire people with Computer Science, Marketing, Etc. Also If you guys do hire people with information systems degree what positions do they get assigned? Thank you.

    Education isn't the be all and end all of hiring at Facebook. We look for people with a wide range of skillsets and going to college doesn't always teach what we look for. Having a degree doesn't hurt, but what you majored in won't prevent you getting a role.

Yes, I know IS majors at CMU who have been made engineering offers from Facebook as long as they could show some basic coursework in data structures and algorithms or get a referral for a first round interview and then do well on them, following the same process as a cs major.
