Why do bloggers blog? How do they protect their work?

I’m curious to know what motivates individual personal bloggers to do what they do? What do they get out of it? And how do they try to protect their work (that is if at all they see a need to)? If you have a blog I’d love to hear your story.

Answer:
Most bloggers blog because they love it. Typically because they are writing about a topic that they are genuinely passionate about and making money is just an extra benefit. People who have great blogs just enjoy helping people solve problems. Some are better than others :) And what is there to protect? Blogging is all about giving as much free value to your readers as humanly possible.
