Is it legal to manually collect, store and display stock market data from your website?
-
I am building a website related to stock markets. I need the stock data but I don't need real-time or even very current data. I know I can buy data from exchanges, however, I am considering manually getting the data input for only those items that i need. My question is - am I allowed to manually read, store and display this data on my website without any permission from the stock exchanges?

Answer:
We need an answer for who owns the IPR for prices - company, buyer, seller or exchange. Looking at the use of data by brokerage houses, newspapers, newswire, other websites, I get a feeling that its free public resource. If you want to avoid all liability, a composite data may be stored and operated with.
