How mighty could Facebook search graph be if it as well indexed Quora?

  • Follow up to: Rasmussen confirms that it's taken Facebook more than year to prepare  Graph Search-Facebook search engine which also tightly integrate Bing  result. Now i wonder how mighty it could be if it can as well integrate  Quora. Wouldnt this synergy someday finally pay off as the ultimate  modern day search engine that would finally distrupt google? This, i see  is one hell of challenge google does not have an answer to,  its beyond just engineering capability, thankful to the huge databank at  facebooks disposal which dwarf google+ lonely garden. So how much value  does a critique see in facebook stock from my foresight? Sell? Buy?  Neutral?.

    The two are very different. When I'm looking at technical question on Quora, do I care what my high school friends think? Not really. I care what technically smart people on Quora think. Studying my Facebook interactions won't tech anyone what Quora posters I think are smart. It is a somewhat similar situation, if you use the right social signals: rank Quora users according to which ones I've voted up or have similar voting histories, in addition to their overall Quora reputation. I don't think I'm Facebook friends with anyone I like on Quora.

Facebook Graph Search and Quora are for different purposes. Graph Search focuses on existing entities (businesses, places, people) and relationships (pizza placed liked by friends of friends). Quora focuses on generating new contents for questions, and contents may not exist before or in a difficult-to-use format (paragraph in a long document or .pdf file). Combining both together would be nice, but they don't directly competing each other at this time.
