What are some of the advantages of living in small Indian cities/towns (Tier II cities) over the Tier I cities or the metros?

Some of them are, 1) You will not have to travel more than 5-7 kms for work (Savings on fuel and time) 2) Petrol prices are generally less in TIER-2 cities, 3) Rent is lower, 4) There wont be a mad rush for Railway Tickets, 5) School Fee for your Children would be comparatively lower, 6) The overall cost of living would be lower, 7) Environment wise, you can expect less pollution and more number of trees in TIER-2 cities, I will add more as and when i can think of more pros,

I have shifted back to my hometown after 8 years of Stay in Mumbai. I had a good Career, Money, Friends and all that is known as a cool life!! But Something was Missing..... and i shifted back to My Home town Bhilai. In last 2 years i found following advantages 1. Time: You get more time to spend for yourself, with family, Do household work. You can reach to any place in max 15-20 mnts. Traffic congestion is almost nil (Compared to Metro cities) 2. Money: In smaller cities Rents are lower, Property prices are lower, Most of the times The local groceries and vegetables etc are a bit lower priced, Fresh. As you travel less, Fuel consumption is less. Education is at par with metro cities but comes for Atleast half the price. 3. Health: Small towns are less polluted. Childrens have big grounds to play (Not like Metro city kids going to a garden 5 kms away!) 4. If you are from Small town, and have a house/Family there, nothing better to be with you Parents in their Old age! 5. If you are planning to start something new - Business; You can start with low investment and even can get employees at very low Salaries!
