What are possible uses of computer in banking sector?

I've completed a BSc in Computer Science. What should I say in an interview if they ask me why I'm not joining the IT sector and want to join banking sector?

  • Answer:

It isn't the kind of question that is normally asked. Most degrees aren't really about knowledge per se, they are about succeeding and jumping through hoops. If they felt you weren't capable you wouldn't get an interview. I'm assuming you are going for an entry level job. The interview is a chance for you to advertise yourself. You could give any reason you like. I'd do basic research into the company and see what its values are. Things you could try as replies. I know I can make machines work, but I prefer to work with people. I can benefit your company with a logical and systemic approach from outside the banking environment. Being a student has given me a greater appreciation of the importance of finance and I think its the future. I really want to learn about banking, I understand computing, and this will always help. The key is not to be defensive. You aren't doing anything wrong. A lot of people go into jobs entirely unconnected with their degree. Think of what the company wants. Often they just want a young person without any baggage, that they can train themselves. You must have your own reasons for applying for a bank and being honest does no harm. You didn't just apply randomly.
