You cannot patent your idea unless it has novelty, inventive step and most important utility (commercial or industrial). If you have all the 3 criteria fulfilled, then you find out in which country your idea can get better market (if not india). If you are a scientist, I suggest you find out a good attorney or a patent agent for filing a patent, since drafting a patent is most important part of IPR to increase the scope of you inventions and broaden the claims. As per my knowledge, I think you will have to file patent in your country of origin and then to other countries, either individually or through PCT route. (I suggest you to consult a good attorney for this because, I am not sure). All the best

Recently, we had conducted a 5 day invention workshop for a group of inventors. This was done with a view to generate intention disclosures around few of their patents based on a single invention that is likely to expire by 2017. The faculty had been a leading innovator with experience of working with FMCG, Electronics, Auto sectors. He commenced the workshop in a very unique way. He brought out a patent that the inventors would not have looked at looking at the title of the document. However, when this document was read, this seemed to describe the super system for the subject invention. Similarly, we looked at the subsequent filings to the 1997 invention. These patents were defined as forming the subsystems. The system, super system and subsystems were used to define the set of Problems. Later, the exercise was conducted to determine the inherent contradictions present in each of the problems. Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ) was invoked to resolve these contradictions. Ideas were converged to concepts and then to about 24 invention disclosure that may be quite raw. A paralegal person well trained in prior art search will now raise questions to the inventors in order to have a complete understanding of the invention. Prior art search will lead to establish the patent ability related aspects. Inventors will carry out necessary experiments in order to verify their inventive steps. This appears to be a very promising way to generate invention disclosures. Therefore, you can see that idea generation is a skill. Further, the ideas need to be converted to invention disclosures that must be examined for patentability. Still further, the patent agents be asked to draft the applications. Inventors should not be asked to draft the applications. Role of inventors is to prepare only the invention disclosures.

you can't patent ideas in India. you can only patent things that are capable of being manufactured(ie has production). you can't patent a process, unless it is a process of manufacturing. you have come up with as for validating something is concerned, you can read up on similar technology and calculate/ draw your own conclusions. filing a patent is basically filling up a form, and submitting it to the indian patent office. you can even do it online if you have a class 3 digital signature.
