BlackBerry: What are the things need to be done by RIM to 'come back' to the smartphone and gadget market?

It is hard. fwiw Split into three companies: a hardware one with the brand, software and a services one Sell the hardware one to someone who wants the brand. Lenovo perhaps or maybe ZTE or Tata or someone.  The brand has value. The phones themselves somewhat, but not huge. We had "Blackberry from RIMM" for years; why not "Blackberry from ZTE"  ? (This is hard to day because of security worries, hence the split). The software side can license the OS. There is a desire for a third ecosystem, QNX is better & more scale than Saiflfish or the other upstarts, so it is really fighting it with Microsoft. Is their room for four ecosystems? Perhaps. Finally, a services company doing high-quality managed corporate data. Get bought by IBM or Microsoft. I can't see how the business as it stands is viable. Too small, bad cost base, savagely hard market. But as the company is composed now it is hard for anyone to buy it: Lenovo etc want thebrand and the phones, but wouldn't be allowed. Microsoft, IBM, HP or EDS might want the corporate business & products, but do not want handsets. So splitting up might just be a way shareholders have a chance of getting something. Otherwise it is a slow motion brancruptcy...

RIM and NOKIA sinking on the same ship, It is almost impossible for them to make a comeback. In case of RIM, blackberry is only for tge niche market and it has already been saturated with HTC, Samsung and offcourse the Apple's Iphone.

if they license their bb10 OS to other phone manufacturers as well, the way Microsoft did! This way there would be more phones, more sales and obviously this will lead to more interested Developers which will lead to more apps resulting in more Sale! And obviously they can fix their share on every phone that is sold, so that they earn money from there as well :)
