How to plan a trip to Goa?

How should i plan my second trip to Goa?

  • I have been to Goa once and thus have seen all the major beaches(Arambol, vagator, Baga etc) and also other major things. I will be going again with my friends in some time. Can anyone tell me some not so famous places that one must go to in Goa (awesome pubs, places not really known to tourists. I have also heard about a place called Gokarna which someone told me is like non-commercialized version of Goa, where you have the feel of North Goa, but its just cheaper there. Can anyone help me?

  • Answer:

This time, South Goa. Palolem, Colva, Varca, Majorda, Bogmalo, Betalbetim are just some the finest places, to name a few. North Goa is more of the party kind. South is relaxed and exotic, not much happening but very clean and tidy. Better beaches, better crowd and less commercial. Some places are expensive too. IMO, you should stay in shacks at Palolem. Rent a bike and roam about all other places. South Goa is also the place for some natural treks, waterfalls and forts. Again, not known to many tourists, just the locals. South Goa is the purely sossegado. Gokarna is about 150 kms south of Goa. It is not like North Goa. There are no pubs. The objective of going there is entirely different. Getting there is a little tedious. Few direct trains and local state transport buses. Plus, you need to take a rick to go 10kms into the town. I was there 4 years ago, no cell network. Two years hence, you can make calls. Gokarna is developing. Its famous for the Om beach. There are 5 beaches - Gokarna, Kudle, Om, Half Moon and Paradise. Gokarna beach is the town beach and a very religious place. Avoid, because you may just upset the locals. Oh, the shortest way between all the beaches is to trek the hills dividing them. Taking a rick is very expensive. But trekking is fun anyway. Kudle is nice, the waters are shallow. It's like a pool. Om is the famous of the lot. Its named for its shape as it is split by a rocky island. Half moon and Paradise are the least developed (I heard Paradise has been demolished, I'm not sure). Suggestion: Make Kudle your base and trek around. Do visit the Namaste Cafe on the Om beach. For more details http://wikitravel.org/en/Gokarna

Have you been to fresh water lake and banyan tree at Arambol? If no, then pay a visit again. You could go to German Bakery in the noon or evening for a nice hangout Please go to Club Cubana if you haven't been there yet Cocktails and Dreams in Tito's Lane is another happening (though small) place... gets pumped up by 11:00 - 11:30 pm... Visit Morjim - Ashwem Beach if you haven't Spice Plantation is another different experience Dudhsagar Waterfalls is also pretty good for the first time http://forkroads.com/2014/09/07/things-to-do-in-goa/
