  Some cool new cutting edge ways to promote books and ebooks are social promotions. I've got to say, they are so new to the book publishing world, I have yet to see these innovations being used this way, but they are being used in many trend setting industries, and I would bet it won't be long before the ebook world catches on... (don't know about the traditional book world though...) With social promotions, you can run contests or your social platforms, like Facebook, your blog, and other sites. How do they work? You set up an app on your Facebook Page, say, to give away free copies of your book. The entry for your contest could be a simple email. You can then collect these emails in a database. The cool thing about these contests is that once a fan enters your contest, it shows up on their Facebook feed, which is seen by their friends, which means your contest and book get to be seen by an exponential number of people! (yeah, how's that for new marketing!) Also, by collecting emails, for example, if you publish a next book... you have emails to send out to your fans to promote your new book!! There's even some simple ways you can set up your own social store, and create your own bookstore of sorts. And, if you're really ambitious, you can even create a bookstore on a blog or Facebook page with fellow self published authors! Sound complicated?
