How hard is it to get a job in media?

I was asked to submit a proposal to a non-profit for paid social media strategy and implementation. But to be considered, they are asking that the proposal contain the strategy. How to finesse this to get the job but not work for free?

  • I do social media strategy consulting and typically get PAID to offer strategy suggestions. They asked that the proposal contain "strategy, tactics, suggested social platforms and target measureable outcomes."

  • Answer:

Your proposal could contain a simple summary of the strategy, with a plan and costs for developing it in more detail. For example: I recommend that your social media strategy has x key elements: 1) Facebook A couple of sentences with a high-level summary of how they can use Facebook. 2) Influential bloggers A couple of setences about bloggers. Etc. Your plan then has 2 phases: 1) Develop detailed strategy: $x 2) Implement strategy: $x Also make sure your proposal has a copyright / intellectual property statement in it: http://www.techrepublic.com/article/submitting-a-proposal-and-safeguarding-your-ideas/
