How do you ask a question on Wiki answers?

Is it okay to monopolize a Quora question by listing out all the possible answers?

  • Many survey questions ask for favorite movies/food/places etc.. Now if a single user lists out all the possible answers by making his/her answer into an answer wiki of sorts, the other users are left with nothing to add. Even though the question gets answered (and the purpose served), people with actual experience/ people who've been to a particular place are not left with anything to share just because some other person has already copy-pasted all the possible answers. Am I thinking right? Or is this a problem that already exists?

  • Answer:

That's why I don't like survey questions. I see the Quora format as better suited for clearly defined questions with a single answer, even if the answer can't be clearly defined. Quora is also well suited for stories, like personal experiences. Asking things like "what's your favorite movie" could be done with a better, more survey-specific format. Having to scroll through all those answers to see a list is annoying. Outside of survey questions, yes, I think it is fair to answer a question completely if you are capable of doing so, because a complete answer is more useful than one missing information.
