What would you consider to be agricultural technology?

What factors should I consider when deciding to expose a competitor's plan or technology?

  • These days, many tech companies prefer to execute in stealth rather than protect their intellectual property through patents.  The value of some patents are dubious, and may only speeds up the R&D efforts of competitors.   Suppose I can reasonably intuit what competitors (e.g. Google) are actually doing behind the scenes when they introduce new features, and suppose that I am in the same business but is moving at a slower pace, is it to my advantage to expose their plans and technology to the public?  Exposing the secret you share with a competitor can remove the stealth advantage of the front runner, but does inviting public interest and attention really help those who are in 2nd place? What strategic considerations are involved in such situations?

  • Answer:

Prepare for backlash. Big competitors means big revenge and it could reflect poorly on you, especially if you're not the front runner.
