How to convince parents?

How do I convince my parents now, about my boyfriend who needs time to settle in with a degree and job?

  Whether he is worth the wait or not is for you to figure. when you do, Set Realistic time frame for you wait. Else if you cant hurt your parents why not marry the guy they want and eliminate the risk of finding out whether they like him or not. That convincing and "hurting" will be lot worse compared to current scenario.
