What should I do with my Computer Science degree?

What are some career paths for a Computer Science major?

  • Answer:

It's well-known that 'good' CS majors are in short supply. Be dedicated. Study hard. Truly understand what you're learning as opposed to just doing well on tests. Care about the content. Spend time connecting the dots and deciding where you want to fit in the grand fabric that is the technology space. Do this and I promise you will not only be employed but will in fact prosper financially and, more crucially, personally.

Dude its the most crucial time for you. Most of the people will suggest you to do mba or something but bro, honestly, inspite of going with the crowd, you should go with your talent. I mean, what you actually want to. If job then get hired, if business then do any startup and if you feel that further studies can get out some gem from inside you, then you can pursue m.tech ar mba according to your choice. All the best

Dude ask yourself one simple question "Why did I do Engg?". Is it because of family pressure or you were really interested in become an engineer or you wanted to become a part of the batch of engineers that pass out every year. If you can answer that question yourself, then you don't need any answer from any Quora user.

Basically there are 3 options which are very common, apart from that there are no proper boundaries that are fixed and says that you can't do that. option 1: Very Common : work for a IT company. option 2: if you are interested in teaching, get an M Tech from a decent university and work as a lecturer in any collage and gradually get a PhD and well teach more. option 3: If you warn to earn in $s and euros; give GRE and TOFEL and get a seat in good US university. as I mentioned above, there are no boundaries explore as many options you want, create a new option/ start a trend; follow your passion.

it is very hard to survive on BSc (CS) you can go for MSc(cs) {many MNC's hire MSc persons} teaching in a school. {many girls get these type of job easily, as they have very good quality of teaching and it is promising too} Learn coding and try to find job in IT field {very tough, as IT is full of engineers} work somewhere as back office assistance {quite easy to get} think for hire studies. think for MBA/bank or such type of competitive exams.

Do nothing. Go to ur native village, stay with your parents for 3 months , sit idle. You will automatically realize what you should do. Believe me. I can suggest numerous things to do, but u can't able to do that without ur own feeling that you should do that. Its u who should decide what u shd do. U have studied without a purpose. I can see u might not have interest in engg or computer, u studied NCOs u have to study, bcos ur finds are taking engg courses or might ur parents told u to do that. If that's so, then ur ultimate goal is to get a job with nice pay, u dont care about whatever be the job. So do where u can easily get a job with nice pay or follow ur finds, do whatever they are doing . OR set a goal to itself, think clearly what it feels for u to do well in, what will give u satisfaction then progress on that. Remember, getting a job is easy but getting a job satisfaction is very difficult

Thanks for A2A. If you are good at programming, I would suggest to go with a company and have experience in the field. If you want to go with more studies, you can do M. Sc. in the same field. Basically I would prefer field experience over studies if you want to see yourself as a good developer.

My suggestion to you will be, first identify the subject interests of you. Telling it as 'Computer Science' is a broader term and I would suggest to opt for a specific subject under Computer Science like Information Technology, Software System and Hardware & Networking. There are various universities which offer the above mentioned Masters degrees. So, first identify your  interests and then make decision accordingly. you can also take these Masters degree through distance learning by being in some other job.
