How does Facebook select one mutual friend when some one send me friend request and we have two or more mutual friends?

When a person send me friend request on facebook and I and that person already have 2 or more friends in common. Facebook gives notification to us as PersonA( Friend of Friend1) sent me a friend request.

Answer:
As far as i have noticed it shows exact number of mutual friends only( considering the other person has not applied privacy on that). You have that option in your privacy setting to show or hide your identity to strangers; in that case it won't show you as a mutual friend.
