What are the best textual analysis software to improve writing skills?
-
English is my second language, and I am looking for different softwares, to improve my writing skills. I just discovered textalyser which can give input on readability and unique word count etc. Furthermore I have used grammarly for grammar issues. Softwares, which would work, in a similar way as textalyser and further give suggestions of synonyms or other things to improve readability would be very nice. I know that the general advices including the ones below probably are the most crucial, but this question mainly revolves around softwares. Writing each day Reading books from prominent writers Read out laud Constraint writing

Answer:
Let me put it this way: language is a million times more complicated than people assume. My goal in life is to contribute to a worldwide scientific movement to find a way to make computers understand human language (an effort that has been ongoing ever since the 1960s) There is no such thing as a computer program that can read your text and give you feedback on readability. You can make a program that searches for words that you use a lot and suggest synonyms like Textalyser, sure, but to get real useful feedback, you need a human, at least in this decade.

Unfortunately, there is no software that one can substitute for the feedback of a native speaker (or native reader in your case), for they can pinpoint what kind of grammatical constructs or words you seem to have problems with and can give you overall quality feedback. There a number of forums for language learners or budding writers (Google is your friend) and the communities there are usually very open and helpful. If you ask nicely I am sure you will find people there to help you with writing. In the end, interaction with a real human will always help you much more in learning a language than software. I hope this helps and all the best!

Here are some writing tools http://stream.withknown.com/2014/16-online-tools-to-make-your-writing-better-1 There are also links on my writers database at http://www.makemoviesdb.net/ You may find it worthwhile to record Newsreaders off of TV/radio and imitate them as they are both grammatically correct, and speak without the use of body language, so closer to writing that normal everyday day you hear around you Correct grammar is of less consequence nowadays so long as you can communicate your ideas clearly
