How to clear my headphone jack in my computer?

Is it okay to use fair-to-good quality computer speakers (that have the those little headphone-like jacks) with your low end digital TV's headphone jack?

  • My TV's rear mounted internal speakers are terrible and I don't want to invest in a soundbar right now. And I don't have a stereo system available to connect to the TV.  So computer speakers seem the best most economical route...unless you advise against it and can suggest something else.

  • Answer:

I use decent 2.1 computer speakers for my television for the same reason, they sound quite OK.

There's no reason not to, although some cheap computer speakers don't get very loud for watching from across the room. A decent pair with internal amps, especially with a subwoofer (2.1) could be just fine and the equal of most inexpensive soundbars.
