What are some ideas for research projects?

Where can I get access to HCI research papers and academic articles?

• I am a student researcher turned software engineer and have been working at a start-up that develops projects in the field of HCI (such as with Kinect, Leap Motion, Arduino etc.) I have had a personal predilection from a long time to learn all the more about HCI (bent more towards hands-on projects and ideas rather than theoratical usability research, evaluations, empirical data etc.). I want to keep myself upto date with the latest research findings/projects and also how it progressed from the past to reach the current level of research. The ulterior motive for this is to also identify a problem for myself before I decide to go to a graduate school. However, being from a non-academic environment currently, I am not sure how to get access to such publications and from where to start reading (from older research to the progress made by researchers to develop something that is considered significant today or might turn out to be vital in future) to reach the latest research findings. It would be great to get this guidance about what papers to read (mostly interested in novel interaction techniques and interfaces, fluid interfaces etc.) and from to get those research papers for my daily dose.

Most of the time, the author's version is available on net and google scholar. 1) Chris Harrison - CMU HCII 2) Patrick Baudisch - Hasso Plattner Institute These two researchers always have some interesting papers.
