How can I start my own Boutique?

Can someone start a boutique hotel without any experience in the industry?

  • I am considering leaving a decently paid corporate job to start a small boutique hotel though I have no experience in the industry. What are the most important things to consider before attempting to start in this business? I am looking at a southern European country as the location for this venture.

  • Answer:

Agreed with Neil. That being said, having an experienced management company and better than average deal/financing terms should help your odds. Running a basic hotel is not hard to learn, but there is a learning curve and being good at it requires experience. Luxury hotels are a different ballgame.

Other answers

Yes, absolutely you can start one. Generating a profit and not defaulting on your debt is the only hard part. It would be best to do a lot of research before starting and probably having a minority investor with experience to aid you. Site selection and market positioning are what will make or break your venture so be sure to get those right since they are the foundation of your business.
