I'm going to adopt my daughter's 6 year old cat that I love. He'll be joining a hesitant husband & a 10 year old yellow lab. How should I begin?

Answer:
The husband may just have to accept the cat is now part of the family. As far as the dog. I guess you need to figure out how they feel about cats. Does the dog go after them or ignore them or something in the middle. I would start slow. Put the cat down in the same room as the dog, but have the dog on a leash. Here you will also be able to tell how the cat feels about dogs. Just watch them and make sure neither gets hurt. You may have to keep them in different rooms when you are not home. Over the first few days, I would keep an eye on them until you are sure you can trust them.
