How to update website's content?

Why does Wikipedia still rank high in search engine results even after Google's panda update? I was under the impression that websites with high amounts of content copied from other sites would be penalized.

There's a couple of things going on in this question, so let's take them apart to answer it properly... For starters, Panda wasn't about catching duplicate content - Google was already pretty good at that from the get go.  Panda was about catching "thin" content, that is, content that is usually auto-generated or just poorly written test that was designed to game the system for the sake of better keyword rankings. Next, Wikipedia doesn't get hit that by that because, it doesn't participate in that practice. Wikipedia can be chided for a lot of things, but SEO practices isn't one of them.  If you think about what SEO is really about in terms of Content, Site Architecture, and Inbound Links, Wikipedia is a model for all others to follow. While it's content can sometimes be pulled from a variety of other sources, that actually isn't the definition of "duplicate content" in Google's eyes, otherwise, every news organization on the web would never show up anywhere.  When Google says duplicate content, it literally means duplicate content. Plus, what is on Wikipedia is actually the kind of good, solid, (usually) well-written content that Google's spiders love to devour.  The whole site is an example of what Google's spiders were designed to look for as an example of relevancy. Add to that the fact that the site is pretty well designed, from an SEO standpoint.  Sure, it may be a bit sparse in comparison to other sites and design wise, it's not that cutting edge, but one thing is does do is get the job done in providing a crawl-able, properly built structure for the search engines to use to get to the aforementioned content. Finally, because of the previous two factors, but mostly the first, Wikipedia gets linked to A LOT... I mean A LOT, A LOT.  Not only do people link to Wikipedia, but the right kind of sites do it... from EDU through DOT COM, and always in the name of what linking to another website is all about, sharing information. You know why Wikipedia never has and never will pay for links and have to mess with any of the black hat SEO crap that makes the legit cats in this field stay awake at night?  It doesn't need to because it's a source of great content that lives on a well-built site... and that, my friends, is what great SEO is all about. I know this was probably a little bit more than what you asked for, but hey... good luck just the same.
