Can You Search the Entire Craigslist?

Can I widen my search radius in Craigslist?

  • I am constantly having to do separate queries for Reno, Sacramento, Bay Area, and occasionally Las Vegas and Los Angeles.  Can I search them all at once easily?

  • Answer:

http://www.searchtempest.com/ allows you to define a Zip/Postal Code and a radius in miles around that location for your searches. You can toggle on/off the inclusion of eBay and Amazon results. While I would happily suggest some bulky, convoluted, advanced Google search that could span all the Craigslist sites you wish to, Craigslist's robots.txt file prohibits the indexing of all but their /apa/ area (housing/rentals), rendering useless the powers of Google in this case. That said, if you did want to search for housing-related stuff, you could do the following (square brackets represent the search box): [ site:http://reno.craigslist.org/apa/ OR site:http://sacramento.craigslist.org/apa/ OR site:http://sfbay.craigslist.org/apa/ OR site:http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/apa/ OR site:http://losangeles.craigslist.org/apa/ 2BR $100..$1500 ] With this, you'll search each locale for 2BR, with a cost range from $100 to $1500.
